Unpaid restrictions result in a block on registration and issue of grades, transcripts, and diplomas. Restrictions are placed with the college business office. The library suspends borrowing privileges when patron fines reach $5 or when library material is damaged or lost. Material that is lost and returned for reimbursement must be evaluated by the librarian. Charges for damaged and lost items are set by the owning library. Items not returned within 30 days of the date due are considered lost and an invoice is issued. Patrons who borrow and damage or lose library material are responsible for replacement cost. Patrons are responsible for all material borrowed. Registration for courses and issue of college diploma or transcripts will be blocked until compensation is received. Patrons having fines or lost materials will be deemed delinquent. The library will attempt to notify patrons regarding overdue material. Computer printouts – B/W $.10 per page Color $.60 per page.Photocopies – B/W $.10 per page Color $.60 per page.Interlibrary loan items – assessed by owning library.Fines may be assessed for equipment, models and items from the Library’s Reserve Collection.Special exceptions may be made for faculty or staff. The following library materials are intended for in-house use only: reference books, periodicals, and newspapers. Return of lost interlibrary loan material that has been paid for by Southwestern Illinois College Library cannot be accepted by the library for reimbursement. In order to maintain borrowing privileges with cooperating libraries, it is imperative that material obtained through interlibrary loan be returned by patrons in a timely manner. The circulation period for materials borrowed through interlibrary loan is determined by the lending library. Interlibrary loan items are held at the circulation desk for one week following notification. The library will notify patrons of the arrival of interlibrary loan items by telephone, mail, or email. Patrons may place ten interlibrary loan requests and ten periodical requests at one time. Completion of an interlibrary loan form is required for items that are not available through the online catalog. A patron may initiate an interlibrary loan through the library online catalog using a valid SWIC Library card. Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service provides patrons access to resources that are unavailable at their Southwestern Illinois College Library location. REQUESTING MATERIAL FROM OTHER LIBRARIES INTERLIBRARY LOAN Library materials do not need to be present when renewing at the circulation desk. SWIC Library items that are not overdue may be renewed online, in person at the library or by telephone.
